Gentleman in Dark Blue Coat and Embroidered Waistcoat
Alois von Anreiter
Alois von Anreiter trained as a merchant before studying painting; due to his exceptional talent he soon became a successful portrait miniaturist. After finishing his studies he copied works by Daffinger whose influence is seen in the broad brush technique of this portrait, too. Anreiter reproduced the characteristics of the gentleman's face with a few brushstrokes and thus captured his vividness.
