Jean-François-Marie Huet-Villiers
After studying with his father, the painter and etcher Jean-Baptiste Marie Huet, Jean-François-Marie submitted his miniatures at the Paris Salon between 1799 and 1802. Obviously he then moved to London somewhat later, for in 1803, he was already taking part in the exhibitions at the Royal Academy, where he subsequently exhibited until 1813. He was a member of the Associated Artists in Water Colours and was appointed miniaturist to the Duke of York in either 1804 or 1808. He exhibited at the Paris Salon for the last time in 1812. Moreover, he painted animals and landscapes in miniature and also made copper engravings. He used not only ivory as a support but also marble.
