Miniatures from the Tansey Collection
Catalogue of Miniatures from the Tansey Collection, 2000
This catalogue, published by Hirmer in 2000, is the first of a row of publications accompanying the miniature exhibitions of the Tansey Collection in the Bomann-Museum in Celle.
The catalogue shows 145 miniatures from the heyday of miniature painting and gives you an idea of the most important artists and subjects of the collection. The great majority of the objects contained in the Tansey Collection are French portrait miniatures from the late 18th century. Each miniature is displayed on a full page in its original format and in excellent quality. Well-founded texts describe the history of miniature painting and the structure of the Tansey Collection. Apart from that you gain an insight into the miniaturist's studio and into the different techniques of miniature painting. Each miniature is provided with a description and a note containing its technical details.
