Edwin Dalton Smith
Anker Smith’s son received his early training from his father, after which he became a pupil under John Burgess. From 1816 to 1866 he showed his works at the Royal Academy and other important institutions. Smith started his career as a painter of flowers and fruits and turned to miniature painting only later. He sometimes signed with his full name, date and address on the back, as was the custom with some English miniaturists.
