Jean-Baptiste Singry
The son of the painter Nicolas Singry, Jean-Baptiste Singry presumably came to Paris at a young age. He enrolled in the school of the Academy in 1801 and was also a student of Vincent and Isabey. From 1806 to 1824, he took part in exhibitions at the Paris Salon. Singry painted portraits of numerous important figures in literature and the theatre. His union with Catherine Émilie Mailfer (Maillefer) resulted in two daughters, Barbe-Eulalie und Émilie, both of whom became miniaturists.
