George Raphael Ward

In 1821 Ward exhibited for the first time at the Royal Academy, where he subsequently presented his work on and off until 1864. In 1822 he joined the Academy and was awarded a prize in 1823. Either in 1827 or in 1828 he married the portrait miniaturist Mary Webb. In addition to his own portrait miniatures Ward created copies in miniature after Lawrence and other artists and also worked as a copper engraver.
