Pierre-Édouard Dagoty

The son of the painter and engraver Édouard Gautier-Dagoty, this artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and, at age 18, he won first prize in the subject of painting. In around 1800, he travelled to Paris via Venice. In 1806, the artist settled in Bordeaux, where he became the most important miniature painter of his time.
