Rosalba Carriera
Carriera was a student of Steve, Lazzari and Balestra and became a member of the Academy of Saint Luke in Rome in 1705. From 1720 to 1721 she worked in Paris. She was successful all over Europe with her tender pastel pictures; moreover, she was among the first miniaturists to employ ivory. As Carriera worked in co-operation with her sisters and other female artists, it must be supposed that many of her works were not executed by her alone.
