P. Castriono

Only two paintings give us knowledge of this artist. Most probably he lived in Austria in the first half of the 18th century. Apart from the miniature in the Tansey Collection (inv. no. 10173) one other miniatureis known, which is privately owned by an American. Castriono is probably the Neapolitan miniature painter Alexander Castriotto mentioned by Saur. One work by Castriotto dating from the early 18th century can be seen today in the Museo Nazionale in Pisa (maybe the signature had been read wrongly).
