Frédéric Dubois

Little is known about the life of this miniaturist. He not only painted in Paris, where he exhibited portrait miniatures at the Salon de la Correspondance in 1780 and was represented at the Salon between 1795 and 1804, but he worked a good deal in Russia, too. Dubois painted at the court of St. Petersburg between 1804 and 1818 and became a member of the Academy of Saint Petersburg in 1813. In 1818, he went to London, where he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1818 and 1819.
