Jean-Francois Soiron

As a young man Soiron learned the basics of painting from Jacques Teulon in Geneva and initially joined the painters David Frainet and Etienne Frégent. Later he worked with Jean-Alexandre Grand and Louis André Fabre. The painter and miniaturist joined the Société des Arts in 1799. In the following year he settled in Paris, where he worked for the Sèvres Manufactory from 1802 to 1804. He exhibited in the Paris Salon in the years 1800 to 1810 and in the last year he received a first-class medal for his work. His two sons Isaac-Daniel and Philippe-David and a daughter known only as “Mlle Soiron” also became painters.
